Episode 3.09 Captures

Though Zachary Levi did us proud in his directorial debut, the episode was sadly light on Yvonne Strahovski, yielding only 43 new screen captures to the gallery for Episode 3.09 – Chuck Versus the Beard.

She only had a couple of outfits and not even that many emotions to deal with.  It’s not all bad, of course, as any new pictures of Yvonne Strahovski are worthy of celebration.  I’m sure you’ll find something of interest in the bunch.

Strahovski and Beards

Another week down, and another Chuck episode upon us.  After last week’s extremely well-done episode, will they be able to keep it rolling?

I realize that we’re all about Yvonne Strahovski here at Strahotski.com, but perhaps tonight is a time to focus on Zachary Levi.  It’s his directorial debut and a big step in both his career and the Chuck-verse.

How did he do?  Let’s find out in our review of Episode 3.09 – Chuck Versus the Beard.

“You’re firing me from the Buy More?”

I’m not sure this episode was nearly as strong as last week’s, but it had a lot to offer.

It was an interesting script in that it was focused strongly on Chuck and his relationships without focusing on Chuck himself.  It’s a rare episode that J-Go gets to be the star of the episode, but this was his time to shine.

It seems particularly fitting that Levi would direct this episode.  He and Josh Gomez have obviously become close friends over the years, and you can tell that Zack has respect for both the actor and the character of Morgan.

“Only as good as your last flash, huh?”

It was pretty clear from the beginning that Chuck being benched would ultimately lead to him flashing and saving the day.  Overall, I’d say that was indicative of the entire episode.  It was clear exactly where it was going.

But sometimes it’s not about being original.  Sometimes it’s about being fun, and this episode was a lot of fun.  Though I felt that the script meandered a bit, it ultimately had enough ‘moments’ to really bring it home.

I absolutely loved Morgan stepping up and trying to calm Chuck down, ultimately leading to him flashing and saving the day.  The whole scene where Morgan watches Chuck go Kung Fu on the ring agents was awesome.

Episode 3.08 Captures

Now Sarah is Sam and we’ve commemorated the occasion by adding 54 new screen captures to the gallery for Episode 3.08 – Chuck Versus the Fake Name.

Not only was this one of the most impressive episodes of the series, but it also gave Yvonne a chance to use those emotes to maximum effect.  Every time I think I’ve seen every facial expression she can make, new ones crop up.

Strahovski and Fake Names

I’m all for world peace, but I’d much prefer Yvonne Strahovski to some dudes in spandex.  Just saying.

It’s been a long hard hiatus with the apparently bitter taste of the new relationships blooming in the meantime.  Will Chuck and Hannah get it on some more?  Is Shaw a double agent?

No better way to figure it out than to get to the review of Episode 3.08 – Chuck Versus the Fake Name.

Warning: This episode reveals Sarah’s real name.  There will be spoilers.

“Because I like cupcakes, that’s why.”

This episode was quite the doozy.  I’ll start out by saying that although it wasn’t my favorite episode of Chuck ever, I do think it was one of the best written and well-made of the season — nay — the series.

It managed to progress the storyline along on multiple levels, while still remaining contained into a standalone episode.  That’s a hard task to pull off at the best of times, and even harder when the overall arc has such deeply rooted drama going on.

“Definitely a deal with the devil.”

Well let’s just get it out of the way, shall we?

After 42 episodes of wondering, we finally got Sarah’s real name.  We have her middle name, so now we know she’s Sam Lisa… I assume Sam is short for Samantha, so we’ll say Samantha Lisa.  Now we just need her real last name.

I would have preferred that Sarah’s big reveal be a little less forced, but it’s good to learn new information.  I didn’t think I’d like any name but Sarah for her, but Sam actually kinda fits.

Sam.  Very tomboyish but hot… just like Sarah Walker.

Q&A, Galleries and More

Though the site hasn’t been updated during the hiatus, there’s been a lot going on behind the scenes.  Fans have been hard at work supplying us with Yvonne Strahovski content.

First off, I was humbled to be asked by NBC to participate in a conference call with Zachary Levi and Josh Gomez this past Friday.  Though I didn’t get to ask a question, it was a lot of fun as they talked about geekdom and what we can generally expect from the rest of Season 3.

The transcript of that interview should arrive in my inbox shortly and I hope to post the entire thing here on Strahotski.com for your perusal.  Until then, remember to watch Chuck starting tomorrow at 8pm EST for the rest of Season 3.

Two drawings have been added the a new Fan Art gallery to show off the artistic endeavors of Yvonne Strahovski fans.  Both are impressive additions to the site, and the latter is featured on one of our official Strahotski.com t-shirts.

Bzzg came through with some new screen caps from Headland that I’ve put up in the gallery.  She originally sent me a whopping 320 screen caps, but in the interest of storage space I narrowed it down to what I considered to the best of the bunch.

Dan from the forums has donated a lot of time into capturing some choice images from Mass Effect 2.  He turned up his rig as high as it would go to get some super high quality screen captures of Miranda.  He sent only the best, and the best are a beautiful testament to both the game and Yvonne Strahovski.

Nima has also been hard at work to help promote the site.  He whipped up a promotional video for the site which is extremely well done and will hopefully attract even more fans to the site.  I know there has to be a few Yvonne Strahovski fans out there that haven’t joined the ranks of Strahotski.com yet.

We really appreciate the submissions of everyone!  We are but a few people, and when the Yvonne Strahovski fan-base chips in to provide content we just get that much more Yvonne out there in the world.

Have anything you’d like to submit to the site?  Send us Yvonne Strahovski related stuff at submissions@strahotski.com!
